Extended Life batteries are constructed with thicker lead plates, allowing them to provide power for longer periods. Due to their robust construction, thicker plates and longer design life, extended life batteries are widely used in commercial and industrial applications. For example, they are used in commercial buildings, restaurants, shopping centers and hospitals. They are also used in traffic lights, railway and aircraft signal systems. They are highly durable and safe to use, even in remote areas where supervision is minimal. Many telecom companies also use extended life batteries for UPS and other back-up power applications. Extended Life batteries are commonly referred to as long-life batteries. Our CXL range shares the same physical appearance as the CBL range, which refers to our series of general purpose batteries. However, the inside construction of these standby batteries is different. because they are engineered with grid alloy technology and thicker AGM plates than standard AGM batteries. The purpose of having thicker plates is to promote a longer standby battery life of at least 15 years and to prevent plate grid corrosion. Furthermore, extended life batteries are constructed with high purity lead, which ensures minimal gassing (less hazardous) and very low self-discharging (more power).
