Description
CBL8-12 | 12V 8Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery | 96Wh | F2 Terminal | 5.29 lbs (2.40 kg) | Lead Calcium Alloy | UL 1989 Certified
The Canbat 12V 8Ah SLA battery is a valve-regulated sealed lead acid (VRLA) battery designed for standby and light cyclic applications. Featuring lead calcium alloy plate construction and absorbent glass mat (AGM) technology, the battery delivers maintenance-free operation, a self-discharge rate below 2% per month, and reliable float performance across a 20+ year design floating life at 20°C. The compact footprint — 5.94 × 2.56 × 3.68 in — accommodates standard enclosure formats across security, life-safety, UPS, and access control infrastructure. Certified to UL 1989.
Typical Applications
The CBL8-12 is designed for float standby and light cyclic discharge duty in systems requiring sealed 12V backup power with higher reserve capacity. Rated at 8Ah (C20) at 12V, the battery is suited to higher standby loads and extended backup durations compared to smaller-format 12V SLA batteries. Typical deployment includes alarm and security systems, fire detection panels, emergency lighting equipment, exit sign backup units, access control systems, UPS backup power, electric power systems (EPS), communication power supplies, DC control systems, medical monitoring equipment, and telecommunications infrastructure. The CBL8-12 is commonly used as a replacement 12V 8Ah SLA and AGM battery in security systems, alarm panels, emergency lighting equipment, access control systems, and UPS installations requiring greater reserve capacity.
UL 1989 Certification
The CBL8-12 is certified to UL 1989, the Underwriters Laboratories standard for sealed lead acid batteries, covering electrical performance, mechanical integrity, and safety requirements including overcharge tolerance and short circuit protection. Certification is issued following independent third-party laboratory evaluation — not manufacturer self-declaration.
Canbat maintains UL 1989 certification across its sealed lead acid battery lineup. UL 1989 certification is commonly specified for security, fire alarm, emergency lighting, telecommunications, and backup power installations.
VRLA AGM Construction
The CBL8-12 12V 8Ah SLA battery uses valve-regulated absorbent glass mat (AGM) construction, with electrolyte immobilized within puncture resistant micro-porous glass mat separators. The sealed recombinant cell design prevents acid emission under normal operating conditions and permits installation in any orientation. Lead calcium alloy plate construction eliminates watering requirements, reduces gassing, and supports low self-discharge performance. Batteries stored at 25°C may be held up to six months before a refresh charge is required; storage at elevated temperatures reduces this interval.

plug and play battery for my alarm system, can’t argue with that.

I ordered 3 units and I received them within the delivery time. Following some initial checks, I found the 3 batteries were precharged at about 90% and they were capable of operate an APC Back-UPS 550 normally for at least 1 min. with a load of 100W at a minimum voltage of 12.7V.
