Description
Heated 12V 150Ah Lithium Battery — CLI150-12LT
Heated 12V 150Ah lithium battery delivering 1,920Wh of usable energy in a standard Group 31 footprint — the Canbat CLI150-12LT is built for users who need more than entry-level capacity without stepping up to an oversized or commercial-format battery. At 35 lbs (15.8 kg), it fits any Group 31 tray, battery box, or marine compartment while delivering significantly more usable energy than comparable AGM batteries, with integrated charge-activated heating that enables safe charging down to -20°C (-4°F) year-round.
For RV owners who boondock for multiple days, boaters running extended house loads, overland builds with refrigeration and auxiliary power demands, and off-grid cabin systems that need overnight reserve without a generator — the CLI150-12LT provides the energy density to extend autonomy, reduce recharge frequency, and run inverter loads that smaller batteries cannot sustain. All in a footprint that installs exactly where a Group 31 AGM battery would go.
It ships free across Canada and the USA with same-day dispatch, carries a 10-year warranty, and is built with UL 1642 certified cells. For Canada and USA orders, there are no import duties or cross-border complications.
1,920Wh in a Standard Group 31 Footprint
Group 31 is one of the most widely used battery formats in RV, marine, and off-grid applications. Virtually every mid-to-large RV, offshore fishing boat, and serious overland build uses Group 31 battery trays, hold-downs, and compartments as standard. The CLI150-12LT fits this footprint exactly — meaning the upgrade from AGM to heated lithium requires no new enclosures, no modified trays, and no changes to existing mounting hardware.
What changes dramatically is what that footprint delivers. A standard Group 31 AGM battery typically provides 100Ah nominal capacity — but only 50Ah of usable energy before the 50% depth-of-discharge limit that prevents premature degradation. The CLI150-12LT delivers 150Ah at 100% usable depth of discharge — significantly more usable energy than a comparable Group 31 AGM battery in the same physical space. That difference translates directly into longer off-grid stays, fewer generator runs, and fewer days when the system runs short before the sun comes up or shore power becomes available.
At 35 lbs (15.8 kg), the CLI150-12LT also weighs roughly half what a Group 31 AGM battery weighs — typically 60–70 lbs — reducing chassis load, improving fuel efficiency in mobile applications, and making installation and removal significantly more manageable.
Why Standard Lithium Batteries Cannot Charge Below Freezing
Standard LiFePO4 batteries can discharge normally in cold temperatures — lights run, appliances operate, the inverter works. The problem is charging. Charging a lithium battery below 0°C (32°F) causes lithium plating on the anode — permanent cell damage that reduces capacity and accelerates degradation with every cold-weather charge cycle. To prevent this, standard lithium batteries block charging below 0°C entirely.
For a 150Ah battery installed in an RV, boat, or off-grid system, this creates a critical gap. Shore power at a winter campground cannot recharge the battery. Solar panels producing power on a clear January day cannot replenish the bank. A generator running on a cold morning cannot top up the system. The charging opportunity is there — but the battery cannot accept it. Through a Canadian winter, this means the bank arrives at spring depleted, having missed weeks or months of available charging.
The CLI150-12LT eliminates this limitation. Its integrated heating system activates automatically when the charger connects and the BMS detects temperatures below 0°C — warming the cells to a safe temperature before charging begins, without any user input required.
| Standard Lithium Battery | CLI150-12LT Heated Lithium | |
|---|---|---|
| Charging below 0°C | Blocked — no charge accepted | Enabled — heater activates automatically |
| Winter shore power charging | Not possible below freezing | Down to -20°C (-4°F) |
| Winter solar charging | Rejected below 0°C | Accepted — heating activates first |
| External heating required | Yes — or battery cannot charge | No — fully integrated |
| Year-round reliability | Seasonal limitations | Full year-round operation |
How the Built-In Heating System Works
Once the battery detects temperatures below freezing, the integrated heating system automatically prepares the cells for safe charging before current reaches the lithium cells. The system draws power from the incoming charging source — not from the battery’s stored energy — so the heating process does not reduce usable capacity. The system operates in four automatic stages:
| Stage | Process | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Thermal detection | Charger connects. BMS reads internal cell temperature. If below 0°C, incoming current is redirected to the heating elements instead of the cells. |
| 2 | Internal warming | Heating elements warm the cell stack gradually. The process is powered entirely by the charger — stored battery energy is not consumed. |
| 3 | Charge initiation | Once internal sensors confirm safe cell temperature, the heater disables automatically and full charging current is delivered to the cells. |
| 4 | Continuous monitoring | If temperature drops again during the charge cycle, the heater reactivates automatically. The system manages itself without user intervention. |
This process enables safe charging down to -20°C (-4°F) — covering the majority of Canadian winter conditions and ensuring the system captures every available charging opportunity regardless of ambient temperature. Discharge operation continues normally in cold temperatures regardless of heating system status.
Applications
RV Extended Boondocking & Full-Time Travel
For RV owners who regularly spend multiple nights off-grid without shore power access, the CLI150-12LT provides the overnight reserve to run a 12V fridge, lighting, a diesel heater, and small appliances through the night and into the morning without hitting a low battery cutoff. Its 1,920Wh of usable energy — triple the usable output of a Group 31 AGM — translates directly into more days between generator runs, more flexibility in campsite selection, and more confidence in cold-weather and remote locations where a depleted battery is a genuine problem.
Marine House Banks
On sailboats, powerboats, and fishing vessels where the house bank powers navigation electronics, autopilot, refrigeration, communications, lighting, and bilge systems through the night or during extended passages, the CLI150-12LT provides significantly more reserve than a Group 31 AGM in the same compartment space. IP54-rated for splash and moisture resistance, sealed and maintenance-free, with no off-gassing in enclosed spaces. Shore power charges the battery through winter storage without requiring a heated boathouse or manual intervention.
Van Builds & Overland Rigs
For Sprinter, Transit, and Promaster conversions where available space limits battery count, the CLI150-12LT delivers the energy density of a larger battery bank in a single Group 31 unit. Runs fridges, lighting, inverter loads, diesel heaters, and charging systems through multi-day off-grid trips without the weight, wiring complexity, and space requirements of multiple smaller batteries. Cold-weather charging capability ensures alternator charging and shore power work on cold mornings regardless of overnight temperature.
Off-Grid Cabins & Solar Systems
For smaller off-grid solar systems at seasonal cabins, hunting camps, and remote properties, the CLI150-12LT provides enough overnight reserve to maintain essential loads — lighting, communications, water pump, and security systems — through extended periods of low solar production. The integrated heating system ensures the battery captures every available charge cycle from solar panels even on clear winter days when ambient temperatures are well below freezing.
Inverter Systems & Backup Power
The CLI150-12LT’s 150A continuous discharge rating supports inverter loads up to approximately 1,800W — enough for small appliances, power tools, medical devices, and communications equipment. Paired with a quality pure sine wave inverter, a single unit provides meaningful backup power capacity for essential loads during grid outages, with cold-weather charging ensuring the battery stays topped up even when the backup system is stored in an unheated space.
Heated 12V 150Ah Lithium Battery for RV, Marine & Off-Grid Systems
The CLI150-12LT is Canbat’s compact high-capacity heated lithium battery — built for users who need serious runtime from a standard Group 31 footprint without stepping up to larger commercial battery formats. At 1,920Wh and 35 lbs, it delivers significantly more usable energy than a comparable Group 31 AGM battery while providing cold-weather charging capability that standard lithium batteries cannot match. It is the natural step up for RV owners, boaters, and van builders who have outgrown 100Ah capacity but don’t need a full large-format battery bank.
For Canadians sourcing a heated Group 31 lithium battery, the CLI150-12LT ships free with no import duties, is backed by a Canadian technical team, and carries a 10-year warranty. Compatible with all major inverter/charger brands and solar charge controllers that support a LiFePO4 charging profile — making it a direct, high-performance upgrade from any Group 31 lead-acid battery.
Runtime & Performance
The CLI150-12LT delivers 1,920Wh of usable energy at 12V nominal — all accessible at 100% depth of discharge on every cycle. A standard Group 31 AGM battery, limited to 50% usable depth of discharge, would need to be rated at 300Ah nominal to approach this usable output:
| Application / Load | Average Draw | Estimated Runtime |
|---|---|---|
| LED lighting & low-draw electronics | 5–10A | 15–30 hours |
| 12V fridge + lighting | ~15–20A | ~7–10 hours |
| Inverter — 500W load | ~42A | ~3.5 hours |
| Inverter — 1,000W load | ~83A | ~1.8 hours |
| Marine house bank (nav, fishfinder, VHF, lights) | ~10–15A | 10–15 hours |
| Diesel heater + cabin lighting | ~8–12A | ~12–18 hours |
| RV overnight (fridge + heating + lighting) | ~20–30A | ~5–7 hours |
Runtime figures are based on 100% usable depth of discharge. The CLI150-12LT delivers its full 150Ah on every cycle with stable voltage throughout — no derating, no voltage sag under sustained loads, and no reserve capacity restrictions. For most RV, marine, and van applications, a single CLI150-12LT provides sufficient overnight autonomy with solar or shore power recharging during the day.
Series & Parallel Expandability
The CLI150-12LT supports both series and parallel connections — up to 4 units in either configuration — for systems that require greater capacity or higher system voltage as energy requirements grow.
| Configuration | Units | System Voltage | Total Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single unit | 1 | 12V | 150Ah / 1,920Wh |
| Parallel x2 | 2 | 12V | 300Ah / 3,840Wh |
| Parallel x3 | 3 | 12V | 450Ah / 5,760Wh |
| Parallel x4 (max) | 4 | 12V | 600Ah / 7,680Wh |
| Series x2 | 2 | 24V | 150Ah / 3,840Wh |
| Series x3 | 3 | 36V | 150Ah / 5,760Wh |
| Series x4 (max) | 4 | 48V | 150Ah / 7,680Wh |
Every battery in a parallel or series bank retains its integrated heating system — cold-weather charging capability scales with the entire configuration.

Battery Management System and Bluetooth Monitoring
The CLI150-12LT’s integrated BMS manages heating logic, cell-level protection, and balancing simultaneously — with no external battery management required. The system operates automatically in all conditions including the transition between heating and charging modes in sub-zero environments.
- Heating logic — automatically activates and deactivates the cell heater based on internal temperature readings; manages the transition between heating and charging modes
- Over-discharge protection — prevents cell damage from excessive depth of discharge
- Over-charge protection — disconnects at the correct voltage ceiling
- Short circuit and over-current protection — responds within milliseconds
- High-temperature cutoff — protects cells during charging in hot environments
- Cell balancing — maintains consistency across the prismatic cell groups over thousands of cycles
The optional Bluetooth add-on connects the battery to the free Canbat BT app, available for iOS and Android. Monitor state of charge, voltage, current, cell temperature, and heating system status in real time — particularly useful for confirming the heating system has activated on cold mornings and for monitoring remote cabin or boat installations between visits.
System Compatibility and Installation
The CLI150-12LT is compatible with any inverter/charger, solar charge controller, or AC charger that supports a LiFePO4 charging profile. When replacing a lead-acid battery, verify that the charging system’s voltage settings are configured for lithium — incorrect lead-acid charge profiles will undercharge the battery or stress the cells over time. Most modern inverter/chargers and solar charge controllers include a LiFePO4 preset.
For alternator charging in vehicles or vessels, a DC-DC charger is recommended to deliver correct LiFePO4 charging parameters and protect the alternator from the battery’s high charge acceptance rate. M8 terminals with bolts are included. The battery installs upright or on its side in any standard Group 31 tray, battery box, or marine compartment.

This cold weather lithium battery is running great for my remote cabin. I had lead-acid batteries before and they were a hassle to maintain. The cabins sit unused for about 6 months and is not accessible for this period but the batteries continue to provide good power output when I use them. We use about 600 watt-hours a day and produce about 345 watts from our array so it’s a small system. If you live in the cold, this is the best battery on the market, you can recharge it in super low temperatures and these guys have incredible customer service and shipping.
