Description
CDC55-12 | 12V 55Ah Deep Cycle AGM Battery | 660Wh | Group 22NF | T9 (M8 Lug Terminal) | 39.0 lbs (17.7 kg) | AGM Deep Cycle | UL 1989 Certified
The Canbat 12V 55Ah Deep Cycle AGM Battery is a valve-regulated sealed lead acid (VRLA) AGM battery engineered for repeated deep-discharge cycling in small solar energy storage, mobility equipment, medical mobility equipment, lawn and garden equipment, light floor scrubbers, marine auxiliary power, RV auxiliary power, and light industrial cyclic equipment. Built to Group 22NF dimensions and rated at 55Ah (C10) and 660Wh, the CDC55-12 is designed to deliver reliable capacity across repeated charge and discharge cycles where standard general-purpose standby AGM batteries are not designed for repeated deep cycling. Featuring maintenance-free AGM construction, a self-discharge rate below 2% per month, and a 20+ year design floating life at 20°C, the CDC55-12 provides dependable deep-cycle performance for demanding applications requiring sustained power output over extended periods. Certified to UL 1989.
Typical Applications
The CDC55-12 12V 55Ah Deep Cycle AGM Battery is designed for cyclic discharge applications where batteries are regularly discharged and recharged as part of normal system operation. Rated at 55Ah (C10) at 12V and built to Group 22NF dimensions, this 12V 55Ah deep cycle battery is suited to small solar energy storage systems, off-grid backup systems, mobility scooters, power wheelchairs, medical mobility equipment, lawn and garden equipment, light floor scrubbers, marine auxiliary power, RV auxiliary power, electric utility carts, and light industrial cyclic applications. The CDC55-12 is commonly used as a replacement 12V 55Ah deep cycle battery and Group 22NF battery in small solar installations, off-grid backup systems, mobility scooters, power wheelchairs, medical mobility equipment, lawn and garden equipment, and light industrial cyclic equipment.
UL 1989 Certification
UL 1989 certification provides third-party verification of battery safety and performance requirements for sealed lead acid batteries. The CDC55-12 is certified to UL 1989, the Underwriters Laboratories standard covering electrical performance, mechanical integrity, and safety requirements including overcharge tolerance and short circuit protection. Certification is issued following independent third-party laboratory evaluation — not manufacturer self-declaration.
Canbat maintains UL 1989 certification across its sealed lead acid battery lineup, including the CDC deep cycle series.
Deep Cycle AGM Construction
The CDC55-12 uses valve-regulated absorbent glass mat (AGM) construction specifically engineered for deep-discharge cycling. Unlike standard general-purpose AGM batteries designed primarily for float standby service, the CDC55-12 is built to withstand repeated deep discharges while maintaining stronger cycle performance than standard general-purpose standby AGM batteries. Electrolyte is immobilized within puncture resistant micro-porous glass mat separators, preventing acid stratification and extending cycle life across a wide range of discharge depths.
The sealed recombinant cell design prevents acid emission under normal operating conditions and permits installation in any orientation. Lead calcium alloy plate construction supports low self-discharge performance — batteries stored at 25°C may be held up to six months before a refresh charge is required. The ABS container provides heavy-duty construction suited to the demanding operating conditions of solar, RV, marine, and industrial cyclic applications.
Cycle Life & Depth of Discharge
The CDC55-12 is engineered for repeated deep-discharge cycling, with cycle performance dependent on depth of discharge, charging profile, operating temperature, and maintenance practices. Shallower discharge depths significantly extend total cycle life — operating at 30% depth of discharge (DoD) delivers substantially more cycles than operation at 100% DoD.
Indicative cycle life at 25°C under standard test conditions (discharge at 0.17C to 1.7V/cell; charge at 2.45V/cell constant voltage, max 0.25C; charge volume 125% of discharged capacity):
| Depth of Discharge (DoD) | Approximate Cycle Life |
| 30% DoD | ~1,800 cycles |
| 50% DoD | ~1,200 cycles |
| 100% DoD | ~400 cycles |
