Bluetooth Lithium Battery
Smart LiFePO4 Solutions
Bluetooth lithium batteries utilize a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) and Bluetooth communications, in order to enable the user to monitor a Bluetooth lithium battery from a smartphone or tablet. The Canbat lithium Bluetooth app is available in the Apple Store for IOS devices and in Google Play for Android devices. No need to purchase a separate Bluetooth LiFePO4 Battery App. The Canbat lithium Bluetooth app allows you to monitor the state of charge (SOC), voltage (V), capacity (Ah), charge and discharge currents, temperature (°F and °C), cycle life and much more.
The Canbat Bluetooth lithium battery range is built with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) technology. This series of lithium batteries is designed in a variety of BCI standard
sizes for easy drop-in replacement for sealed lead-acid batteries. Canbat Bluetooth lithium batteries are up to 70% lighter than traditional lead-based batteries, charge faster and offer thousands of cycles. All Canbat Bluetooth lithium batteries in Canada come with a 10-year warranty.
Every lithium Bluetooth battery has a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) which protects the battery against extreme temperatures (hot and cold), over-discharge, over-recharge and short-circuits. The BMS is also responsible for balancing the individual cells within a battery pack to ensure optimal performance in all deep cycle applications. The advantage of a built-in BMS is to regulate the use and therefore maximize the life of the Bluetooth lithium battery.

Lithium Bluetooth Scanning
FIND YOUR BLUETOOTH LITHIUM BATTERY
The first step to operating the Canbat BT app after launching it on your smartphone or tablet is letting it scan for nearby Bluetooth Lithium batteries within 5 meters or 16 feet. Depending on how many Bluetooth batteries you have, the app will show them all on this screen. The default name of a Canbat bluetooth lithium battery is its serial number. If you have multiple batteries, you might want to change the battery’s name so you can easily identify the battery in the future. For example, if you have one battery for your trolling motor and another battery for your fish finder, you can rename them to “trolling motor battery” and “fish finder battery”. This way, when monitoring the batteries, you’ll easily know which is which. We will show you how to change the name of your Bluetooth LiFePO4 battery in the next steps using the Canbat lithium Bluetooth app. If you have a large number of batteries, you can use the search box to find the one you’re intending to monitor. Once you found the right battery, select the battery by tapping on its name on the screen.

Basic Information
After selecting the LiFePO4 battery you want to monitor, this is what the screen will look like. From here, you’ll be able to view and monitor a number of things:
- State of charge – referred to as SOC and is measured in percentage. In the screenshot, the SOC is showing 47%, and that’s how much power is remaining in the battery.
- Battery’s health – helps you understand the condition of your battery. This will become more important in the long run as your LiFePO4 starts to age.
- Status – indicates what the battery is doing, whether charging, discharging or simply in standby mode.
- Voltage – as you charge, the voltage increases. and decreases as you discharge the lithium battery. Important to know your voltage before connecting multiple lithiums in series or parallel.
- Capacity – This is a fixed figure based on your battery’s capacity. It does not change. This is helpful if you have multiple batteries with different capacities. You’ll know which battery you’re monitoring.

CURRENT, TEMPERATURE & CYCLE LIFE
The second tab on the lithium Bluetooth app helps you monitor the current, temperature and cycle life of your LiFePO4 battery. Current is measured in amps (A) and it is the net current of charging and discharging. For example, if the battery is not being discharged and is connected to a charger, it’ll show the charging current inputted into the battery, whether it’s 5.0A, 10.0A or whatever it may be. On the flip side, if the battery is not charging and is only discharging, the app will show a negative current, such as -8.0A. If the battery is charging and discharging at the same time, the net current will be shown. For example, if you have the LiFePO4 battery connected to solar in your RV, you’ll be discharging and recharging simultaneously. If your charging current is 10A and your discharging 6A, the app will show a positive current of 4A.
Lithium battery temperature can also be monitored in Celcius °C and Fahrenheit °F. Canbat Bluetooth lithium batteries can operate in these temperatures:
- Discharge: -20 to 60 ºC (-4 to 140 º F)
- Recharge: 0 to 45 ºC (32 to 113 º F)
- Storage: 5 to 35ºC (23 to 95 º F)
Canbat does manufacture a line of cold-weather lithium batteries with built-in Bluetooth. These batteries are self-heating and can recharge in temperatures as cold as -20ºC.
Cycle life measures how many times the battery has been charged and discharged. We show this in our Bluetooth lithium app to prove that our batteries can truly deliver the number of cycles we claim. This information is also useful in determining if your battery is reaching the end of its cycle life and whether it’s time to replace the battery or not.
System Information
Bluetooth Lithium Battery Activity Log
Canbat Bluetooth LiFePO4 batteries are constructed with a powerful Battery Management System (BMS). Not only does the BMS protect your battery against misuse, but it also logs every activity. Every charge, discharge, short-circuit, temperature change and everything else is logged. The LiFePO4 Bluetooth App provides users with some insights into this information, including:
High-temp when charging, High-temp when discharging, Low-temp when charging, Low-temp when discharging, Over-current when discharging, Over-current when charging, Low-voltage protection, High-voltage protection, Temp returned to normal, Current returned to normal, Voltage returned to normal, Short-circuit, Short-circuit recovery,Low power.
