Description
Heated 12V 100Ah Lithium Battery — CLI100-12LT
Heated 12V 100Ah lithium battery built for year-round operation — the Canbat CLI100-12LT is the ideal entry point into cold-weather lithium power. At 26 lbs (11.79 kg) in a standard Group 27 footprint, it drops directly into the same tray as a conventional AGM battery at less than half the weight, with no wiring changes, no new enclosures, and no seasonal limitations. Where a standard lithium battery refuses to charge below 0°C, the CLI100-12LT’s integrated charge-activated heating system warms the cells automatically and enables safe charging down to -20°C (-4°F) — without external heating pads, insulated enclosures, or manual intervention.
For RV owners, boaters, cabin builders, and anyone upgrading from lead-acid for the first time, the CLI100-12LT delivers everything that makes lithium worth switching to — 100% usable capacity, maintenance-free operation, 3,000–5,000 cycle life, and faster charging — with the additional cold-weather charging capability that makes it reliable year-round in Canadian conditions.
It ships free across Canada and the USA with same-day dispatch, carries a 10-year warranty, and is built with UL 1642 certified cells. For Canada and USA orders, there are no import duties or cross-border complications.
The Easiest Way to Upgrade to Heated Lithium
The CLI100-12LT is designed to replace a Group 27 AGM, lead-acid, or flooded deep cycle battery with zero installation complexity. Same footprint, same terminal configuration, same tray — and at 26 lbs, roughly half the weight of the 55–65 lb AGM battery it replaces. The weight reduction alone makes a meaningful difference in RVs, boats, and vehicles where every pound matters.
Beyond weight, the performance difference is substantial. A 100Ah AGM delivers approximately 50Ah of usable capacity before hitting the 50% depth of discharge limit that protects its cells. The CLI100-12LT delivers all 100Ah on every cycle — effectively doubling the usable energy storage in the same physical space. Combined with a charge acceptance rate that fills the battery significantly faster than lead-acid, the system spends more time at full capacity and less time recovering.
No equalisation charges. No watering. No terminal corrosion. No winter storage concerns. The CLI100-12LT requires none of the maintenance that lead-acid batteries demand — and with the integrated heating system, it charges reliably through the Canadian winters that leave standard lithium batteries unable to accept charge at all.
Why Standard Lithium Batteries Cannot Charge Below Freezing
One of the most common misconceptions about lithium batteries is that they work in winter. They do — but only partially. Standard LiFePO4 batteries can discharge normally in cold temperatures, which means they will run your lights, electronics, and appliances even when it is well below freezing outside. The problem is charging. Charging a lithium battery below 0°C (32°F) causes a phenomenon called lithium plating — a process where lithium ions deposit on the surface of the anode as metallic lithium rather than being properly absorbed into the cell structure. This is permanent, cumulative cell damage that reduces capacity and accelerates degradation with every cold-weather charge cycle.
To protect against this, virtually all standard LiFePO4 batteries include a BMS that simply blocks charging below 0°C. This is the correct protective response — but it creates a serious practical problem for anyone operating in a Canadian climate. An RV stored in a cold facility through winter cannot recharge from shore power. A cabin solar system misses every charge cycle on clear winter days when the sun is producing power but temperatures are below freezing. A boat in winter storage sits depleted and unable to recover. Over a Canadian winter — four to six months of sub-zero temperatures across most of the country — a standard lithium battery can miss dozens of charging opportunities, arriving at spring significantly depleted or in a state that stresses the cells.
A self-heating lithium battery solves this at the source. The CLI100-12LT’s integrated heating system activates automatically when the charger connects and the BMS detects temperatures below 0°C — drawing power from the incoming charge source to warm the cells to a safe temperature before charging begins. No external heating pads. No insulated battery boxes. No manual intervention. The battery manages the entire process itself, capturing every available charging opportunity regardless of ambient temperature. For Canadian RV owners, boaters, cabin builders, and anyone else who needs a cold weather lithium battery that actually works through winter — not just discharges — this is the difference that matters.
| Standard Lithium Battery | CLI100-12LT Heated Lithium | |
|---|---|---|
| Charging below 0°C | Blocked by BMS — no charge accepted | Enabled — heater activates automatically |
| Winter charging capability | 0°C minimum — no cold weather charging | Down to -20°C (-4°F) |
| External heating required | Yes — or battery cannot charge | No — heating is fully integrated |
| Automatic heating | No | Yes — charge-activated, no user input needed |
| Canadian winter suitability | Limited — misses charge cycles below freezing | Full year-round operation |
How the Built-In Heating System Works
Once the battery detects temperatures below freezing, the integrated heating system automatically prepares the cells for safe charging before current reaches the lithium cells. The system is fully automatic and charge-activated — drawing power from the incoming charging source, not from the battery’s stored energy, so the heating process does not reduce usable capacity. The system operates in four automatic stages:
| Stage | Process | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Thermal detection | Charger connects. BMS reads internal cell temperature. If below 0°C, incoming current is redirected to the heating elements instead of the cells. |
| 2 | Internal warming | Heating elements warm the cell stack gradually. The process is powered entirely by the charger — stored battery energy is not consumed. |
| 3 | Charge initiation | Once internal sensors confirm safe cell temperature, the heater disables automatically and full charging current is delivered to the cells. |
| 4 | Continuous monitoring | If temperature drops again during the charge cycle, the heater reactivates automatically. The system manages itself without user intervention. |
This process enables safe charging down to -20°C (-4°F) — covering the majority of Canadian winter conditions and ensuring the battery captures every available charging opportunity regardless of ambient temperature. Discharge operation continues normally in cold temperatures regardless of heating system status.
Applications
RV & Camper Van Power Systems
For RVs, camper vans, and travel trailers that store or travel in cold conditions, the CLI100-12LT eliminates the seasonal charging restriction that leaves standard lithium banks unable to recharge in cold storage facilities, cold campgrounds, or winter transit. At 26 lbs it significantly reduces chassis weight compared to AGM alternatives, and 100% usable capacity means the battery bank performs as specified from the first day of the season to the last.
Marine & Boat House Banks
The CLI100-12LT fits directly into Group 27 battery compartments common on smaller powerboats, fishing boats, and sailboats. IP54-rated for splash and dust resistance, sealed and maintenance-free, with no risk of acid spills or off-gassing in enclosed spaces. Shore power charges the battery through winter storage without requiring a heated boathouse or manual intervention.
Off-Grid Cabins & Seasonal Properties
For smaller off-grid setups — weekend cabins, hunting camps, ice fishing shelters, and remote seasonal properties — the CLI100-12LT provides reliable 12V power with solar or generator charging year-round. Standard lithium batteries miss charge cycles whenever temperatures drop below freezing. The CLI100-12LT does not, keeping the system at full capacity regardless of when the property is visited or how cold it gets between visits.
Emergency Backup Power
Paired with a quality 12V inverter, the CLI100-12LT can run essential appliances, lighting, medical devices, and communications during grid outages. Stored in an unheated garage or utility room, it continues to accept charge from a solar panel or AC charger even when temperatures drop well below freezing — unlike standard lithium batteries that would sit depleted and unable to charge through a cold Canadian winter.
Ice Fishing & Cold-Weather Recreation
At 26 lbs, the CLI100-12LT is light enough to transport to remote locations while providing reliable 12V power for fish finders, electric augers, lighting, and heating equipment in sub-zero conditions. The integrated heating system ensures the battery charges normally from a vehicle charger or portable solar panel even in extreme cold — and IP54 protection handles the moisture and condensation typical of ice fishing environments.
Heated 12V 100Ah Lithium Battery for RV, Marine & Off-Grid Use
The CLI100-12LT is the most accessible heated lithium battery in the Canbat LT lineup — a direct Group 27 replacement that brings cold-weather charging capability, full 100Ah usable capacity, and 10-year warranty coverage to the widest range of 12V applications. At 1,280Wh and 26 lbs, it covers the energy requirements of most RVs, boats, cabins, and backup systems without the weight, maintenance demands, or seasonal limitations of conventional lead-acid batteries.
For Canadians sourcing a heated 12V 100Ah lithium battery, the CLI100-12LT ships free with no import duties, is backed by a Canadian technical team, and carries a 10-year warranty. Compatible with all major inverter/charger brands and solar charge controllers that support a LiFePO4 charging profile — making it the simplest premium upgrade from any Group 27 lead-acid battery.
Runtime & Performance
The CLI100-12LT delivers 1,280Wh of usable energy at 12V nominal — all of it accessible on every cycle at 100% depth of discharge. A comparable AGM battery would require 200Ah of nominal capacity to match this usable output:
| Application / Load | Average Draw | Estimated Runtime |
|---|---|---|
| LED lighting & low-draw electronics | 5–10A | 10–20 hours |
| 12V fridge + lighting | ~15–20A | ~5–7 hours |
| Inverter — 200W load | ~17A | ~6 hours |
| Inverter — 500W load | ~42A | ~2.4 hours |
| Fish finder + electronics | ~5–8A | 12–20 hours |
| Diesel heater + cabin lighting | ~8–12A | ~8–12 hours |
| Marine nav, VHF, lights | ~8–12A | ~8–12 hours |
Runtime figures are based on 100% usable depth of discharge. The CLI100-12LT delivers its full 100Ah on every cycle — no derating and no reserve capacity restrictions. For most RVs, boats, cabins, and backup systems, a single CLI100-12LT provides sufficient daily autonomy with solar or shore power recharging overnight.
Series & Parallel Expandability
The CLI100-12LT supports both series and parallel connections — up to 4 units in either configuration — giving system designers the flexibility to scale from a single 12V unit to a 48V system as energy requirements grow.
| Configuration | Units | System Voltage | Total Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single unit | 1 | 12V | 100Ah / 1,280Wh |
| Parallel x2 | 2 | 12V | 200Ah / 2,560Wh |
| Parallel x3 | 3 | 12V | 300Ah / 3,840Wh |
| Parallel x4 (max) | 4 | 12V | 400Ah / 5,120Wh |
| Series x2 | 2 | 24V | 100Ah / 2,560Wh |
| Series x3 | 3 | 36V | 100Ah / 3,840Wh |
| Series x4 (max) | 4 | 48V | 100Ah / 5,120Wh |
Start with a single unit and expand as your system grows — every battery in the bank retains the integrated heating system, ensuring reliable cold-weather charging across the entire configuration.

Battery Management System and Bluetooth Monitoring
The CLI100-12LT’s integrated BMS manages heating logic, cell-level protection, and balancing simultaneously — with no external battery management required. The system operates automatically in all conditions including the transition between heating and charging modes in sub-zero environments.
- Heating logic — automatically activates and deactivates the cell heater based on internal temperature readings; manages the transition between heating and charging modes
- Over-discharge protection — prevents cell damage from excessive depth of discharge
- Over-charge protection — disconnects at the correct voltage ceiling
- Short circuit and over-current protection — responds within milliseconds
- High-temperature cutoff — protects cells during charging in hot environments
- Cell balancing — maintains consistency across the prismatic cell groups over thousands of cycles
The optional Bluetooth add-on connects the battery to the free Canbat BT app, available for iOS and Android. Monitor state of charge, voltage, current, cell temperature, and heating system status in real time — useful for keeping tabs on remote installations or confirming the heating system has activated on cold mornings before the charge cycle begins.
System Compatibility and Installation
The CLI100-12LT is compatible with any inverter/charger, solar charge controller, or AC charger that supports a LiFePO4 charging profile. When replacing a lead-acid battery, verify that the charging system’s voltage settings are configured for lithium — incorrect lead-acid charge profiles will undercharge the battery or stress the cells over time. Most modern inverter/chargers and solar charge controllers include a LiFePO4 preset.
For alternator charging in vehicles or boats, a DC-DC charger is recommended to deliver correct LiFePO4 charging parameters and protect the alternator from the battery’s high charge acceptance rate. M8 terminals with bolts are included. The battery installs upright or on its side in any standard Group 27 tray or enclosure.
For system sizing assistance, charger compatibility questions, or help planning a multi-battery configuration, Canbat’s Canadian technical team is available by phone, email, and live chat.

I bought 4 of these 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries for my cabin and they’re amazing. It gets really cold up here in northern Alberta and the batteries literally don’t care. Truly outstanding Canadian quality. My wife and I are very happy with our purchase and we definitely recommend it to everyone living in the cold parts of Canada.
John M. –
This lithium battery is perfect for the cold weather of Edmonton. It works well in the extreme cold, charges quick and it is very well built. This is a definite A+ from me.
Sarah W. –
Excellent cold weather performance in my RV. We live in an RV and travel across Canada all year round. We are loving this low temperature lithium battery because it’s always ready whenever we are!
Mike H. –
The best thing about these low temperature lithium batteries is that they warm themselves up without requiring any additional components. They sure save me the hassle of building some sort of a heating system to keep the batteries warm.
Jennifer K. –
Wow, I’m amazed by these LiFePO4 batteries. The heating process is completely seamless! No extra equipment is required for keeping the batteries warm. The batteries come in a very compact container considering they have a built-in heating system. Highly recommended!

I have tested two CLI100-12LT batteries in my Westfalia during a 5,000 kilometre trip and they have performed better than stated and expected. I no longer have to hear my wife complain about not having enough DC power to enjoy our off-grid stopovers. We can literally travel anywhere across Canada without worrying about whether we’ll make it to the next morning. Our load in our motorhome includes the refrigerator and furnace. We also have a few smaller electronics running like the TV and laptop charging. These LiFePO4 batteries are Pricey upfront no doubt, but over the long-term, these batteries are worth every penny for our off-grid power supply peace of mind. Lithium is known to be more economical than its lead-acid batteries considering the difference in the cycle life. Overall, I’m very satisfied with these lithium batteries, and I would recommend them to anyone who may camp in sub-freezing weather, which they handle perfectly. Kudos to Canbat for their lithium innovations.

I was born and raised in London, Ontario. Extreme cold weather is nothing new to me. My girlfriend and I live far from the city and we’ve always faced issues accessing reliable power, especially in the winter. Our house is not connected to the grid. Well, there is no grid where we are anyway. We have an off-grid solar system and every winter we suffer. Batteries just don’t work well in the cold. We came across these Canbat low temp lithium cells and gave them a go. Since then, we have never felt cold again. The batteries are up and running year-round keeping themselves and everyone else warm.

I recently ordered a 100AH low temperature w/ Bluetooth. Shipping to the US was fast, free, and without problems. The current exchange rate is favorable too (prices are in CAD). I’ve tested 2 full cycles to 100AH with a test meter at 20 amps and the voltage was still 12.35 at 100AH under the 20A load with a 72F battery temperature. Obviously there is a bit more than 100 AH available — Very nice to see this. Charging showed 100.6 AH back in, which is about 99.4% efficiency. The Bluetooth phone app worked great, and displays the percent capacity remaining, voltage, amps, and even the cell voltages. I already had a Victron 712 battery monitor in the camp trailer, and if I’d bought this Bluetooth battery first I’d skip the 712 because the Canbat Bluetooth does almost everything the 712 does.

I know there are a lot of 12V 100Ah heated lithium batteries out there that are very cheap, but not in a million years would I risk it with a brand I don’t know. Lithium batteries are no joke, so you need a quality one to ensure not just quality, but most importantly, safety. I’ve been buying and installing Canbat 100Ah heated lithium batteries for the past 3 years for my customers in their RVs and boats, and I’ve had nothing but great feedback. The quality and their service is outstanding. If there was one thing I’d recommend them to work on is price. Canbat was one of the very first lithium companies in Canada, but the market is so competitive now and there are so many options. Unfortunately, because of the economy, many customers don’t appreciate quality anymore and they’re attracted by the low prices. Of course, their cheap batteries eventually die and they end up being forced to go with a quality battery like Canbat or Battle Born, but the competition is nonetheless still affecting how many we’re able to install per year. I will continue working with Canbat and I hope pricing becomes more competitive soon!
